I want to feel sorry for Lard, I really do. Poor guy is ostracized from his peers and just feels so sad about it. Unfortunately the reason I can’t is because his personality makes me want to bully him. It is the same reaction one must feel if they ever come up on Don Diebel in real life.
I am pretty impressed that Ms. Bugg managed to get scans of this one and not shred the comic to pieces while reading it out of justifiable rage.
It looks like Ol’ Freck once went through a Tintin phase.

Did Golden Age comic artists simply not know how to draw unattractive women?
Because with or without glasses, skinny or marginally less skinny, Hilda is pretty hot by ’40s comic book standards…
