Lydia, I give you credit for writing the first 1-900🌭 I was actually afraid to read… that’s quite an achievement. The book itself, sadly, doesn’t appear worthy of my initial apprehension. I feel like it would be both funnier AND more upsetting if it was intended to be serious. Like the book Seanbaby wrote about for Cracked on building homemade coffins. It was dead serious (no pun intended), and treated making DIY caskets like a perfectly normal hobby…which, naturally, made it both disturbing as Hell and utterly hilarious.

The tone of this book makes me suspect the writers were totally in earnest, but the publishers thought the book would sell better as humor.

But it doesn’t work that way. Would “Natural Harvest”, the infamous semen based cookbook be as well known if it was written as a joke? No. It’s the very fact that the author was so serious about something 99.9% of humanity would at least find bizarre, if not revolting, that made that book worth talking about.

The same goes here.

“There’s an artist’s rendering of how to euthanize a guinea pig with chloroform that will haunt me forever, and I won’t show you.”

And I am extremely grateful for that.

I wish I could unsee the dead cat on the rocket and the dead parrot, but sometimes, all you can do is take what you can get.

it’s nice to get a dictionary definition of Excarnation, otherwise you’d assume it was a 15 year olds metal band, or what a bad gardener has in the patio planter
