That Encarta 96 reference got me right between the eyes
“dead.com” is a pretty solid epitaph for Steve’s son Dotcom, though
This “joke” book is actually amazingly progressive, since the go-to hack joke in the 90’s was that all computer nerds were virgins who had never even kissed a girl, let alone gotten married and had kids
I’m so glad this was written during the email era and not the social media one.
Choosing Police Quest II was surreal to me, like seeing a crack in the Matrix. I just found out about the Roland MT-32 a few days ago because of this comparison video:
I think I’ve only heard vintage pc games through a SoundBlaster so I was absolutely stunned, I immediately got to getting the proper files to emulate the MT-32 through ScummVM (pretty pumped to play Monkey Island with MT-32 emulation) while also downloading MuntVSTi to mess around with the MT-32 sounds in Ableton.
Anyways, pretty pointless post but I had to point out that weird coincidence (so weird out of every old ass game you name that one in particular), how hard the opening theme slaps for that game, and that I did actually get a chuckle learning the subtitle for that game was “The Vengeance” while reading this article.
