I wish my mutant power was being able to have the Mortal Kombat theme to start issuing from thin air whenever I want, wherever I am.
I think that it is the facet of Mortal Kombat as a cultural artifact. When it is played by a space orchestra in 3022 as part of a medley of music from our era, even those intimately familiar with the tune will be surprised to scan in the holo-program that it was tied to a videogame and movie franchise.
My high school banned that song at dances, and normally I’m opposed to censorship, but it is not safe to play that shit around 15-year-old boys full of soda in the dark. They can’t really hurt each other on purpose, but at least one kid got knocked facefirst into a speaker.
As a reminder, Bad Black, Who Killed Captain Alex?, and a bunch of other Ugandan action movies are up for free on Tubi, along with Lucha Underground.
I feel like not enough attention is given to the fact that The Immortals, purveyors of fine Mortal Kombat Jamz, are basically just the Lords Of Acid in disguise. That shit kinda blew my mind back in the day…
You do know that Techno Syndrome (Mortal Kombat) [Mortal Kombat theme] by the Immortals is a remix of Twilight Zone by 2 Unlimited?
