I don’t mind this one too much. Sure, it’s sexist in that 1950s way, but Casey Jr saves the day at the end, and Casey himself still looks like an idiot. I give it a rating of “Could be worse”
The original poem is bland nothingness, but Garrison Keillor did write a pretty funny parody of it told from the point of view of the fans of the opposing team, who see the game’s ending in a much more positive light.
The only problem is that by the end of the poem, the behavior of those fans is so unhinged and appalling that one can only conclude that Mudville was playing the Phillies.
