Podcasting Day: Lone Tiger, with Josh Barnett! 🌭

Here’s the podcast

This week we’re joined by former UFC champ and master of war, The Warmaster Josh Barnett! He’s a big-rig full of high torque beef, of course. He’s a punch artist, obviously. He is those things and you know that. Did you know he’s also an accomplished bourbonist and avid bloodsportsman? And yet, above all else, he would surely describe himself as a Lone Tiger fan.

Lone Tiger is a 1996 action movie possibly based on Japanese professional wrestler Tiger Mask, but it’s very shy about it. This is the story of Lone Tiger, an occasionally tiger-masked lunatic who moves to Vegas to avenge his father, forgets about that, starts a teenage hobo cult, is a willing accomplice to several bumfight massacres, accidentally solves his father’s murder three times but none of them stick, and then leaves, having accomplished nothing and confused everybody. It stars nobody, but it does feature Richard Lynch and Robert Z’Dar! And with the talents of…

Podcasting Day: The Grabowski Shuffle with Ty Franck! 🌭

No ordinary human mind can comprehend The Grabowski Shuffle, a behind-the-scenes VHS tape about the making of a music video starring non-musicians hoping to recreate the exact careers of Super Bowl champion novelty rappers without the football or charm.

So we did what any Grabowskis would do. We invited Ty Franck, author of The Expanse novels and writer and producer of The Expanse TV series to help us understand it. Could his keen mind decode this ancient riddle of antimusic unfootball? No, but being a Grabowski is not about understanding, probably. Which is why we now legally honor him with the title of Ty Franck Grabowski, GbSki, the highest recognition Grabowskis can bestow on a podcast.

Listen here, or wherever you do podcasts! For more Grabowski reference, read Seanbaby’s article about The Grabowski Shuffle here, and the Chicago Reader article he cites here.

Real Grabowskis who give us money on Patreon are in for even more Grabowski when Brockway and Hugo Award-winning author and Official Grabowski, Ty Franck, try to seduce Sean using pick-up lines from the incel classic, 1001 Best Pick-Up Lines. It’s by Don Diebel, America’s #1 Singles Expert! It gets as awkward and horny as a Grabowski photo shoot!

Podcasting Day: American Inventor with Drew Toothpaste and Natalie Dee! 🌭

This week we’re joined by co-founders of internet comedy, Drew Toothpaste and Natalie Dee. Natalie and Drew have been making Weird Internet Shit far longer than any of us feel comfortable discussing. Find them at the Garbage Brain University podcast, or here, right now! To commemorate all of us being veterans of the comedy wars, we made them watch the first episode of American Inventor, which of course they had already seen.

American Inventor was a failed reality show from 2006, when it was impossible to fail as a reality show. It was a predecessor of Shark Tank but with a more evil premise, crazier inventors, and scummier hosts. Let’s meet the judges:

Ed Evangelista, the untrustworthy one!

Peter Jones, the posh one! Brilliantly untrustworthy.

Mary Lou Quinan, the woman one! Confidently untrustworthy.

And Doug Hall, the eccentric inventor! There’s something about a white guy in a Hawaiian shirt and denim jacket that screams “trust me with your dreams.”

Doug brags hard and often about his elite luxury invention compound where the world’s best minds think professionally, untethered by material concerns. Let’s take a look at those sprawling resort grounds, Google Street View!

Remember to subscribe to the podcast, which we hear is like being trapped in a child’s prison of joy. And then leave us a glowing review, which offers all the satisfaction of publicly relieving yourself in a trash bag.

Listen to the podcast to get these jokes, or just read them now and remember them fondly when the time comes!

Podcasting Day: The Double Trouble Barbarian Game with Michael Swaim! 🌭

What if one barbarian was a cop and another was a jewel thief? What if they were twins? What if you were them? What if Small BeansMichael Swaim was half of that? Congratulations, you’ve just imagined “Double Trouble,” the podcast game by Brockway based on the film Double Trouble. And to be clear, this is a game about the 1992 Barbarian Brothers Double Trouble, not the Hong Kong, ’80s sitcom, Italian, Elvis, Punjabi, or Mary-Kate & Ashley ones, which I imagine are coming soon.

Listen here, or wherever you get podcasts. Like, and have your Good Cop twin Review. Or Share, and have your Bad News twin Subscribe. Thanks for doing that, but that’s not all! Patrons get a bonus podcast where they can play along with Brockway’s second Barbarian Brothers Double Trouble Home Roleplaying System where Swaim and Seanbaby face off to rewrite the ending of Double Trouble! Again, not the Elvis or the Punjabi one! The barbarian cop one! Here are their character sheets!

It’s double the Fun! Quadruple the Trouble! 23 the Barbarian! All day today in the Dogg Zzone 9000!

Podcasting Day: Streaming Shows That Came From the Wrong Decade, with Jason Pargin! 🌭

Welcome to Podcasting Day! This week author and provocateur Jason Pargin has an all-new book… to plug! If This Book Exists, You’re in the Wrong Universe is the next entry in the John Dies at the End series. This is a huge day for longtime podcast fans looking forward to several more years of Jason plugging this book. Truly the beginning of a bold new era.

Today we’re talking about shows that seem to come from the wrong decade. Brockway brought Daybreak, a wildly out of touch with the teens zombie comedy that would’ve killed in the Joss Whedon knock-off dense early 2000s. Seanbaby brought Guardians of Justice, a show that would have definitely been tolerated in the late ‘90s, before we as a culture learned how to make good comic book shows. And Jason brought Jack Reacher, which is literally the 1970s The Incredible Hulk show except Hulk all the time. Wonder at the improbable size of Jack Reacher! Thrill as Jack Reacher is consistently huge! Marvel as men Jack Reacher could accidentally eat wildly attack him without provocation!

Anyway, that’s the podcast. Reacher us wherever you get podcasts, and Jack us wherever you leave reviews

Podcasting Day: Documental Season 5 with Lydia Bugg! 🌭

It’s Podcasting Day, where there are 9000 Dogg Zzones, and this is all of them. This week we’re joined by our own Liddy to revisit Documental, the impenetrable Japanese reality competition about not laughing. Specifically, we talk about season five, featuring the return of Jimmy– the man who came to a comedy contest armed only with a dress and a mouth capable of swallowing a party of adventurers.

Listen here, or wherever you get podcasts! There are spoilers ahead and all over the fucking podcast, so consider watching Documental Season Five (streaming on Amazon) before listening!

Okay, about the show: season five added some more chaos to the format, with each contestant able to bring a guest, but it’s mainly notable for the emergence of the Frank Dux of making a room full of naked men laugh, Hollywood Zakoshisyoh.

No one knew what to do to him or about him.

Documental was created by Hitoshi Matsumoto as an act of laughter science. He reduced comedy to a test of honor and strategy, and he’s been tweaking the formula for years to understand the fundamentals of hilarity. And then Hollywood Zakoshi came in and taught him he knew nothing. For four seasons this maniac had been studying the show, preparing. And with the fury of a thousand 1994 Jim Carreys, he dick-twirled and ball-flopped his way to the most one-sided victory reality television has ever seen. Lydia was not happy we asked her to watch it!

Please enjoy! And help the show by liking, subscribing, reviewing… all that! (いいね、シェア、コメント、チャンネル登録お願いします!) Or you could buy something from the store! Watching lunatics shake their penis at one another is how we make our living!
